RBNZ surprises with OCR on hold at 2.75%

Published On 28 Oct 2026 , 12:18 PMThe Reserve Bank of New Zealand left the Official Cash Rate unchanged at 2.75%, surprising almost everyone.
The decision was made by a 6-3 split vote, with Governor Anna Breman favouring a hike but two internal members were among those dissenting.
The Monetary Policy Committee agreed that tighter monetary policy is likely to be required, but remains conditional on the economic outlook.
