Credit to Macquarie Uni Student

It was a question I was asked by a student at Macquarie University that led to a last-minute decision (I had prepped another in my head) to ask the same question to Governor Michele Bullock at the last presser.

And now others are asking the same question. The student should be so proud.

This is mine:

"Last week, a bright student from Macquarie University asked me this question, but I think you’re best placed to answer it. So your recent survey showed a gap in understanding among the public about the link between interest rates and inflation. If higher interest rates are seen as pushing inflation higher, it would reflect in household inflation expectations, which means this understanding is very important for monetary policy.....
