Australia's unemployment rate at 3.9% in April

The jobless rate was at 3.9% in April, following a revised 3.9% rate in March (from 4.0%), data from Australian Bureau of Statistics showed.

The number of employed rose by 4,000 (less than expected) but the number of unemployed fell by 11,000. The participation rate fell slightly to 66.3%, (66.34% vs 66.44% in March).

The employment-to-population ratio remained at a record high at 63.8%, and average monthly hours worked per employed rose to 136.7 hours, highest since December 2021.
