Australia's wage price index rose 0.8% q/q in the December 2025 quarter, leaving the y/y pace unchanged at 3.4%, the same as the September quarter.

The outcome is in line with the RBA's forecast in the February Statement of Monetary Policy.

Both private and public sector wages grew at the same 0.8% pace in the December 2025 quarter, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said. Public sector wage growth on a y/y basis was 4% compared with 2.8% in the same quarter the year before.

"Strong growth in public sector wages for 2025 was due to new state public sector agreements that delivered multiple pay rises over the course of the year," ABS said.
