Australia Jan Unemployment Rate Stays at 4.1%

Published On 19 Feb 2026 , 11:39 AMAustralia's unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.1% in January, data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed.
The number of employed rose 17,800 in January compared with a revised 68,500 increase in December. Participation rate was unchanged at 66.7%, compared with a peak of 67.2% in January 2025.
Employment-to-population ratio declined marginally to 63.9% from 64.0%. The record high of 64.5% for this data point was also reached in January last year.
